Real-Life Problem
Understanding the global wildfire crisis
What Is the Problem?
Wildfires pose a critical global threat by destroying homes, habitats, and lives at an accelerating rate. Beyond the immediate devastation, their toxic smoke and massive carbon emissions harm public health worldwide and accelerate climate change.
Where Does It Happen?
Wildfires mainly occur in forests across Sub-Saharan Africa, Western North America, and Australia, among other regions. These areas face increasing fire risk due to rising temperatures and prolonged droughts caused by climate change.
Who or What Is Affected?
The animals’ habitats are destroyed by deforestation caused by the large number of vegetation and trees burnt away, leaving them uninhabitable for prolonged periods. Fires also release massive amounts of toxic smoke and carbon emissions, further accelerating global warming. This affects the whole world, especially people living near the main locations of wildfires.

Our Solution
How the Wildfire Stopper tackles the problem
Our Drone
The Wildfire Stopper drone helps put out wildfires by dropping water or dry powder directly onto them. It is also equipped with standard cameras and thermal cameras to locate fires and possible survivors — making it both a combat and rescue tool.
What Does It Do?
Our drone solves most of the problem by reducing casualties and putting out fires more quickly than if done by humans alone. This reduces the overall damage caused by fires and keeps firefighters safe by removing them from the most dangerous areas.
How Does It Work?
Three steps, listed below.
Key Capabilities

The Wildfire Stopper — component breakdown
3D Mapping LIDAR
Maps out the terrain of the forest in three dimensions, giving the drone precise spatial awareness to navigate safely through dense smoke and complex terrain.
Thermal Camera
Detects fire locations by sensing heat signatures invisible to normal cameras. Also spots survivors in dense smoke or darkness, enabling disaster rescue missions.
Anemometer Gas Detector
Detects dangerous toxic gases released by fires and measures wind speed and direction, helping predict how the fire will spread and warning ground teams of hazards.
What Does It All Do Together?
The 3D Mapping LIDAR maps out the terrain of the forest, the Thermal Camera is helpful for detecting the fire’s location and any survivors, and the Anemometer Gas Detector detects the dangerous gases being released by the fires and measures wind conditions for smarter, safer firefighting.

How It Helps
The real-world impact of the Wildfire Stopper
How Does the Drone Help?
Our Wildfire Stopper Drone flies high over forests to spot smoke and fires early. By detecting fires before they spread, it protects trees, keeps wild animals safe, and helps firefighters stay out of danger! The drone can cover large areas quickly, getting water or powder to fires that humans cannot safely reach.
Why Is Our Drone Useful?
Our drone is useful because it reacts faster than human spotters and can safely fly in bad weather or thick smoke where helicopters cannot go! It operates autonomously, meaning it can work non-stop without putting any human lives at risk.
Protects Forests
Early detection prevents fires from spreading across wide areas of precious woodland.
Saves Wildlife
Faster firefighting protects animal habitats before they are permanently destroyed.
Keeps Firefighters Safe
Reduces the need for humans to enter the most dangerous fire zones.
Fights Climate Change
Less burning means fewer carbon emissions, slowing the acceleration of global warming.
